In this Shroomsy mushroom coffee review, I’m sharing my experience, my favorite way to drink it and how its ingredients and price compare to other mushroom coffees.

First Impressions of Shroomsy Mushroom Coffee

My first cup of Shroomsy mushroom coffee surprised me, mostly because I could barely taste the coffee.

Instead, it reminded me of a lightly sweetened latte—with enough creaminess that adding my usual flavored creamer was too much. I kept trying less until I realized I didn’t need it at all.

I actually reached out to Shroomsy and asked them if this was normal and they replied:

“Yes, that’s pretty normal! We worked on making it taste a little less earthy and more pleasant than traditional mushroom coffees. Each serving contains a small amount of Arabica coffee, providing approximately 50 mg of caffeine.” ~ Jackie from Shroomy

What Is Shroomsy Mushroom Coffee?

Shroomsy is an instant coffee blend with six varieties of mushrooms, MCT oil and coconut milk. Each bag contains 30 servings.

The instant format makes it easy to prepare without brewing a pot of coffee. However, based on my experience, it helps to approach it as its own drink instead of expecting it to taste exactly like your usual morning cup of coffee.

Compared to other mushrooms coffees I’ve tried like Ryze or Everyday Dose, this is the mildest tasting one so far.

What Does Shroomsy Taste Like?

To me, Shroomsy tastes more like a lightly sweetened latte than a traditional cup of coffee. If you like a stronger coffee flavor, you can also add it to a regular cup of coffee.

I didn’t detect any kind of earthiness usually found with mushroom coffees. If the idea of drinking mushrooms makes you hesitate, that could be a selling point. You aren’t getting an obvious savory mushroom flavor in your mug.

What Does Shroomsy Mushroom Coffee Have in It?

Shroomsy’s six-mushroom blend includes:

  • Lion’s mane
  • Cordyceps
  • Reishi
  • Turkey tail
  • Shiitake
  • King trumpet

Along with coffee, the blend contains MCT oil and coconut milk. The company lists 27 calories per serving and identifies coconut on its allergen statement.

The coconut milk and MCT oil are helping to give it that creaminess and lighter flavor.

Why Drink Mushroom Coffee?

Mushroom coffee offers a fresh way to enjoy your morning cup, combining familiar coffee with functional mushrooms that have attracted interest for their potential wellness benefits.

Depending on the blend, it may also contain less caffeine than regular coffee—an appealing option if you’re looking to cut back while keeping your coffee ritual.

Different mushrooms are being studied for their potential roles in focus, immune support and overall wellness. Research on finished mushroom coffee blends is still limited, but the combination makes this an interesting option for anyone curious about adding functional mushrooms to their routine in an easy way.

How Do Shroomsy’s Ingredients Compare to RYZE?

When I compared the ingredient lists, the biggest similarity was the mushrooms: both brands list the same six varieties.

The difference is in the rest of the blend. Shroomsy lists MCT oil and coconut milk, while RYZE’s current website lists organic instant coffee, its organic six-mushroom blend and a prebiotic blend containing acacia, inulin and tapioca fibers.

Caffeine per servingApproximately 50 mg, according to the company’s response to meApproximately 48 mg, according to RYZE

RYZE also offers a dark roast, which it lists at approximately 80–90 milligrams of caffeine per serving, so the medium roast is the closer caffeine comparison.

It should be noted that matching mushroom names doesn’t establish that two products contain the same amounts or will produce the same results.

How Does the Price Compare?

At the time of writing, Shroomsy’s website listed a 30-serving bag for $21.99, or approximately 73 cents per serving. With MOMTASTIC10, a qualifying purchase at that price would come to approximately $19.79, or 66 cents per serving, before any shipping or tax.

RYZE’s 30-serving product page showed a $27 introductory subscription offer, or 90 cents per serving, followed by $36 refills, or $1.20 per serving. The page also displayed a $45 reference price.

Based on those listed prices, Shroomsy is the less expensive option. Prices and promotions can change, so compare the checkout totals and subscription terms before ordering.

One positive thing to note about Shroomsy is that your purchase is not automatically turned into a subscription the way it is on most mushroom coffee websites, including RYZE.

My Final Thoughts on Shroomsy

I think Shroomsy is a good mushroom coffee option for someone who doesn’t enjoy strong coffee or wants to avoid a pronounced mushroom flavor. Its mild, creamy taste reminded me of a lightly sweetened latte, and I didn’t need to add creamer or sweetener.
