Making Slime with Elmer’s Collection Slime Kit

Elmer’s Glue is the most popular option for homemade slime recipes, so it makes sense for them to get into the slime-making business.

Their Collection Slime Kit comes with everything you need to make some really cool slime! You get three different kinds of glue: metallic, clear and blue, and three different activators: metallic, glow-in-the-dark, and confetti.

You can mix and match these to custom make the kind of slime you want.

No-Fail Slime Mix

Making slime with this kit couldn’t be easier. You just pour the glue in a bowl, and then add a little activator at a time, mixing until you get the perfect slimy consistency.

First, we made slime at home by mixing the clear blue glue with the glow-in-the-dark activator.

It mixed together very easily and made a cool blue slime that really did glow after charging it up with a light bulb. You can see how well it glows at the end of our video below.

Making Beach Sand Slime

For our next batch of slime, my son really wanted to make sand slime at the beach! So, we brought the rest of the Elmer’s Collection Slime Kit to the beach, to see what we could make.

To make beach sand slime, first make a big hole. That will be your bowl!

Next, pour the Elmer’s Glue into the hole. We used the red metallic glue.

And finally, add your activator until you have the right consistency. We used the metallic activator, and it made a neat red metallic sand slime

As a side note, we tried the confetti activator and clear glue, and it did NOT mix well with the sand. It ended up being way too gooey and not firm enough.

The red started off a little gooey but firmed up nicely. Beach sand slime can be a bit tricky to get right!

But you can’t go wrong if you stick to the regular directions and make it at home without the sand.

It was a windy day, so my son kept using the slime to make really big bubbles!

Frequently Asked Questions

What comes in the Elmer’s Collection Slime Kit?

Is the Elmer’s Collection Slime Kit easy to use?

Yes. The kit is designed to be beginner-friendly. Simply pour the glue into a bowl, add the activator gradually, and mix until you reach the desired slime consistency.

Do you need any extra ingredients to make the slime?

No. Everything needed to make slime is included in the kit, so there is no need to buy borax, contact lens solution, or other common slime ingredients separately.

Is Elmer’s slime safe for kids?

The glue and slime ingredients are non-toxic and washable when used as directed. Adult supervision is recommended for younger children.

How many batches of slime can you make with the kit?

The Elmer’s Collection Slime Kit is designed to make three full batches of slime, although you can mix and match the glues and activators to create custom combinations.

Does the glow-in-the-dark slime really glow?

Yes. The glow-in-the-dark activator works well when the slime is charged under a bright light before use. The glow effect is most visible in a dark room.

Can you add sand to Elmer’s slime?

Yes, but results may vary depending on the glue and activator combination. Some mixtures work better with sand than others and may require extra activator to achieve the right consistency.

Is the slime reusable?

Yes. Store the slime in an airtight container when not in use to help keep it soft and stretchy for future play sessions.

Does the slime stick to hands?

When mixed correctly, the slime should be stretchy and only slightly tacky. If it feels too sticky, adding a small amount of activator can help improve the texture.

How do you clean up Elmer’s slime?

Since Elmer’s glue is washable, cleanup is generally simple. Wash hands with soap and water and wipe surfaces clean after play.
