When you move your chrysalides to the butterfly habitat, you may notice them shaking and making a rattling noise. The chrysalides are shaking because of a natural instinct to ward off predators. When a chrysalis feels threatened, it will begin to wiggle and shake. This doesn’t hurt them but can be quite startling to you if you aren’t expecting it!
