When a Lash Lift Damages Your Lashes: Repairing and Recovery

Last year I got a lash lift that damaged my lashes completely. Here’s how I got my real lashes back, even better than before.

I suspect the solution was left on too long and the curling rod was too small, resulting in lashes that look burnt and over-curled. They kept poking me in the eyelid and wouldn’t untangle no matter what I tried.

Here’s the pics right after the lash lift:

I could have gone back and asked to get them relaxed, but was worried another chemical process might make them even worse. So, I resigned myself to caring for them over the next several months and nursing my lashes back to health.

Repairing Lashes After Damage

The first thing to do after a bad lash lift is to try and relax your lashes at home. I did this by gently pressing a warm cloth to my eyes a few times day and followed that with coconut oil.

Every day they looked a tiny bit better, but for several weeks it still looked like I put on really clumpy mascara. I hated it! I couldn’t even wear false lashes because the over curled lashes were in way.

I also noticed short sections where the lashes had just broken off. My lashes were just a hot mess.

A Lash Serum that Works

Each evening I started applying Babe Lash Serum to kick the growth cycle up a notch. I needed to replace these sad damaged lashes!

This is my favorite lash serum. Click here to see the Babe Lash store on Amazon with all their products.

If this one isn’t in stock, I recommend trying some kind of lash serum or conditioner to give your lashes some extra help.

My lashes started improving slowly, and by about three months they started looking normal again. I did have some bald spots where they worst ones appear to have just fallen out, and that took longer to grow in.

So honestly it was about a full six months before my lashes started looking even better than before.

My Lashes After Recovering from Lash Lift Damage

The photos below show my lashes now. They may not be impressive if you actually have nice lashes, but mine are pretty short and straight, which is the whole reason I wanted the lash lift in the first place.

And yes, I am wearing mascara in the photos which helps my lashes look better. They actually look how I wanted them to look after the lift.

The mascara I’m wearing is Maneater Volumptuous Mascara by Tarte in black. Click here to see it on Amazon. It does a good job of making my natural lashes look longer, fuller and curled.

So that’s my story and my lesson learned. I know lash lifts can be successful, but I don’t think I will try one again. As a side note, I have tried lash extensions and actually had a good experience with that!

But if you’ve experience lash damage from a bad lash lift, there is hope. It just takes a lot of patience!
