It’s amazing how different blog guest posting is from when I first started blogging about ten years ago. Back then I would get requests from real bloggers who wrote real articles. Now, almost every request is from a company with a team of writers armed with AI software.

Guest Blogger or SEO Reseller?
There are three types of guest blogger requests that come in, but they all are after the same thing: they want a link from your website to their website.
Some are very upfront about it, especially if they are with an agency. But others will try to sucker in unwitting new bloggers, offering their “amazing writing skills” and saying they will send you an article totally free!
Unfortunately, 99% of the articles submitted by the SEO people are AI generated fluff that brings in zero traffic, and that can hurt your website performance overall.
3 Types of Guest Bloggers:
Real Bloggers: These are other bloggers with a real blog. These requests are few and far between. They usually want to exchange links or guest posts to help build the SEO and DA of their blog.
SEO Agencies: These agencies have a team of writers that write articles geared toward helping SEO. They will add your blog to a database and match it with clients who want a link from your website. They are usually upfront about what they are looking for and pay reasonable rates for publishing.
SEO Resellers: These are writers who are selling your links to several different agencies and companies, and they will offer you very little money and try to get you to the lowest possible price.
Does Momtastic Work with Guest Bloggers?
Yes, MomtasticMommyBlog.com does work with guest bloggers, of all three types. We do charge a fee for businesses wanting to guest post. It’s only fair, as they are making money from the link on this website.
There is no fee for guest bloggers with a real article that only links to their blog, not a business. These requests are few and far between as it seem less people have a “real blog” anymore. It’s mostly businesses with a blog section, or even blogs that only exist to sell links.
How Can I Tell Which Blog Posts are Guest Posts?
At the bottom of every article, you’ll find the name of the author of the post. Most of the guest posts will say Allison Blair, unless the writer has a WordPress account they can use.
You’ll see the bottom of this one says Candy Keane – Geek Mamas. I’m the owner of this blog and also GeekMamas.com. My name is at the bottom of the posts I have personally written.
I do miss the early days of blogging, back when tons of WordPress people would leave likes and comments and post on each other’s blogs. Now it’s not quite as exciting when you post something and only a couple likes come in.
Maybe there are so many blogs now that the WordPress reader is overloaded, and you don’t see half of what’s posted. Who knows…
I’ll still be over here, doing my blogging thing, and happy for anyone who drops by to read what I post. 🙂
