My husband is a bit of a social media newbie, and yesterday he mentioned how someone commented “Send me this post,” on his Instagram and asked what it meant. I figure if he had to ask, somebody else out there might be asking the same thing!
So, let me explain what it means, why they are doing this, and why you should hide these comments. You can see an example in the photo below.

Why Send Me This Post?
These comments come from scammy promo pages, asking you send them your post as if they want to share it. And they do! Right after you pay them money for sharing.
The message comes in many variations, as you can see in the image above. Sometimes they switch it up and misspell it, trying to get around word filters that usually block out this type of spam.
If you do actually reply back and send your photo, they will reply back with a list of pricing for their promotional services.
Below you can see one of these pages that appears to be quite popular with 407k followers. But let’s take a deeper look.

Likes and Shares are Easy to Buy
You might think, wow it would be great to get shared on a page with 407k followers! But don’t be fooled. They are most likely all fake. Followers are super cheap to buy.
Likes and shares are also pretty cheap. On the particular page above, you can see some posts have thousands of likes, and some have likes hidden.
You know what’s not cheap? Comments. Those cost extra and are usually pretty easy to spot if you know what they look like.

Nobody Can Guarantee You Results
These Instagram promo pages promise you results, but they only thing they can promise is to post your photo on their page and then pile it up with fake likes.
Half the photos on this “Jacksonville Community” page aren’t even about Jacksonville. Also, most of the photos and Reels are terrible quality and would not organically get any traction on Instagram on any account.
Why Hide These Comments?
Comments on Instagram still count as engagement, so you might as well keep them. But also, your comment section looks a little sad if it’s all “send me this post” type stuff.
So, you can keep the comment and just hide it rather than delete it.
The other option is to block them, which is what I often do, because they get annoying!
Fake Instagram Engagement is Worth Nothing
Getting noticed on social media, especially Instagram, can be a challenge. But don’t get fooled into paying scam promo accounts for “exposure.”
It doesn’t matter if you have 10 followers of 10,000, what matters is if those followers are real and are actually interested in what you post.
