Retinol is one of the most popular and effective ingredients in skincare, and the go-to for anti-aging products. Known for its transformative effects, retinol has become a staple in many skincare routines, particularly for addressing aging and acne-related concerns. Read on for my review after trying Hyaestic 0.5 Pure Retinol cream.

What is Retinol?
Retinol is a type of retinoid, a class of compounds derived from vitamin A. It works by stimulating skin cell turnover, increasing collagen production, and enhancing skin texture and tone.
Retinol is commonly used to:
- Reduce signs of aging: Minimize fine lines, wrinkles, and sagging skin.
- Improve skin texture: Smooth uneven skin and reduce the appearance of pores.
- Address acne: Decrease breakouts by preventing clogged pores and reducing inflammation.
- Fade dark spots: Brighten skin by diminishing hyperpigmentation and sun damage.
Benefits of Retinol
- Anti-Aging Power: Retinol boosts collagen and elastin production, which helps maintain skin firmness and elasticity.
- Acne Management: It clears clogged pores and prevents the formation of blackheads and whiteheads.
- Brightened Complexion: Regular use can even out skin tone, leaving it radiant and refreshed.
- Enhanced Skin Renewal: Retinol accelerates skin cell turnover, promoting a healthier, youthful glow.
Trying Hyaestic 0.5% Pure Retinol
Hyaestic retinol cream contains 0.5% pure, stabilized Retinol along with Hyaluronic Acid to increase hydration. Additionally, it also contains Vitamin E, Sodium Hyaluronate and a calming Calendula Officinalis Flower Extract.
The combination of these ingredients not only targets signs of aging but also improves overall skin texture and resilience. Retinol use can cause redness and peeling, and the added humectants help soothe those side effects.

Getting Started with Retinol
Retinol can cause sensitivity, especially for beginners, so it’s recommended to use it at night and follow up with sunscreen during the day to protect the skin
For best results, users should apply it as directed, starting with a lower frequency and gradually increasing usage as the skin builds tolerance.
I started with a small amount on night one and then used it every other night a couple times before switching to nightly. Gradually building up like that gave my skin a little break and I didn’t experience any irritation or peeling. I prefer a gradual approach.
The cream itself is a white, unscented and light lotion. It spreads easily and is quickly absorbed. You only need to use a small amount, as a little goes a long way.
The Before and After
I took photos on day one, and again at two weeks. I took them in the same spot with the same light and neither are edited.
The before photo is on the left and the after is one the right. You can see the after is a little smoother and brighter looking. My sunspots are starting to fade a tiny bit. At two weeks the process is really just getting started, so don’t expect big changes during this time.

When using retinol, visible results typically take time due to the gradual nature of skin cell turnover. Many users start noticing improvements in skin texture and tone after 4 to 6 weeks of consistent use. For more significant changes, such as reduced fine lines, wrinkles, or hyperpigmentation, it can take 3 to 6 months or longer.
The timeline can vary based on factors like retinol concentration, frequency of use, and individual skin type. Retinol works by promoting collagen production and accelerating skin renewal, but because it takes time for new skin cells to rise to the surface, patience and diligent use is key.
Conclusion
After using Hyaestic 0.5% Pure Retinol for two weeks, I noticed my skin starting to look brighter and a bit smoother. The cream is just starting to work and I’m optimistic it will just get better! As two weeks is not enough time to see big results, I’ll just have to come back and update after 4 – 6 weeks.
