Tulip One-Step Tie-Dye Kit Review: Shark Island

The Tulip One-Step Tie-Dye kit comes with fun themes like Shark Island, Ice Cream Shoppe and Celestial. Each set comes with eight themed colors, protective plastic gloves and a bunch of rubber bands, which is enough to do multiple t-shirts.

The Super Short Review: Very cool! Makes a lot of shirts. Definitely more than 1-step involved though. Messy, but not too messy. Very happy with kit. Click here to purchase Tulip One-Step Tie-Dye

Getting Started with Tulip One-Step Tie-Dye Kit

First, you’ll need to prepare your shirts (Or anything cotton) by doing the tying part of the tie-dye. I advise doing this first, before you mix your colors, so you still have a clean area to work with.

The instructions in the Tulip One-Step Tie-Dye Kit package tell you how to do a few different tying patterns. We did a bullseye, a spiral and a random tie. You get a more defined pattern when you double wrap the rubberbands so they are tight.

Be sure to wet your shirts first! I tried a dry shirt, and it was much harder to get the dye to soak in.

A Little More than One-Step Tie-Dye

Next you need to activate the color powder in each bottle. I advise wearing the gloves for this because it is messier than I expected. You need to shake the dye up to mix the powder and sometimes it squirts out a bit.

Once your colors are mixed, you have about 72 hours to use it all, or it loses its intensity. So have a bunch of clothing ready to dye when you mix the colors! We did five small shirts and had a ton of dye leftover.

Ready, Set, Tie-Dye!

We put the shirts in the stainless-steel kitchen sink and then squirted on the color. It made for an easy clean-up.

We did one side, flipped it over and did the other, and then went back and filled in the folds and creases.

Then I put them in large zip-lock bags overnight. The directions say to wrap in plastic wrap, but I found the baggies to be easier.

I washed them the next morning in cold water, and I thought they all came out looking pretty cool! My son has been wearing them non-stop, and they still look great even after several washings.

In today’s pursuit of personal dressing, tie-dyeing provides more possibilities for clothing decoration. In addition to using tie-dyeing to transform clothing, you can also use custom embroidery patches to increase the personalization of clothing.

Embroidered Patches can be fully customized according to personal preferences. Whether it is a name, logo, cartoon image, or artistic pattern, it can be presented through fine embroidery thread. Combined with other techniques such as tie-dyeing and printing, it can create a layered design. Next time you want to transform old clothes or design new products, you might as well try the charm of stitch-by-stitch!
