Struggling with My Blog’s DA Over Here

In the past year, I’ve managed to raise my DA on GeekMamas.com 6 points, yet here on Momtastic I’ve been stuck at the same number for over a year. This blog is not as old as Geek Mamas, but still, I’d hope to squeak up at least one point in all that time!

What is DA?

Domain Authority, or DA, is a search engine ranking score developed by Moz that predicts how well a website will rank on search engine result pages (SERPs). It is based on a scale of 1 to 100, with higher scores corresponding to a greater ability to rank. The score is calculated using multiple factors, including the number of linking root domains and the quality of the incoming links. A high DA score indicates a strong website with good potential for high search engine rankings.

Why Does Domain Authority Matter?

A higher DA means a lot of things, but to me it is most valuable for getting sponsored posts. A higher DA means companies will pay you more for posting on your blog and linking to their website. Getting a link, especially a do-follow link, from a high-ranking website helps that website rank higher itself.

My DA here is an 8, and most companies are looking for 10 or higher. My DA on Geek Mamas went from a 30 to a 36 in the past year. The 30s may not seem all that high, but it actually is a good score!

I guess it’s something that just takes time. You don’t just develop authority on anything overnight, right?

So, I plan to keep working on it, keep posting, and hopefully this blog will be profitable like my other blog.

Tips to Raise Your Domain Authority (DA)

Raising your Domain Authority requires consistent and strategic efforts. If you’re trying to raise your numbers, here’s a few things you can do:

  1. Quality Content Creation: Regularly publish high-quality, original, and relevant content that engages your audience. Aim for longer, comprehensive articles that provide value to your readers.
  2. Optimize On-Page SEO: Optimize your website’s on-page elements such as title tags, meta descriptions, and heading tags. Use relevant keywords naturally within your content.
  3. Earn High-Quality Backlinks: Focus on getting backlinks from reputable and relevant websites in your niche. Guest posting, creating shareable content, and collaborating with influencers can help attract quality backlinks.
  4. Internal Linking Structure: Create a strong internal linking structure to help search engines understand the context and hierarchy of your website’s content.
  5. Improve Website Loading Speed: Ensure your website loads quickly to provide a good user experience. Compress images, leverage browser caching, and minimize server response time.
  6. Mobile-Friendly Design: Optimize your website for mobile devices to cater to the increasing number of mobile users and improve overall accessibility.
  7. Social Media Engagement: Actively engage with your audience on social media platforms. Encourage social sharing of your content to increase its visibility and potential for backlinks.
  8. Monitor and Analyze Performance: Regularly monitor your website’s performance using tools like Google Analytics to understand user behavior and optimize your strategies accordingly.

By implementing these tips consistently over time, you can work towards increasing your website’s DA and overall search engine ranking. Keep in mind that patience and persistence are key in the process of building domain authority. Good luck with raising your DA! And wish me luck with mine over here.
